A very valuable assessment, which I will follow up. I feel more confident about increasing my cycling mileage after making the recommended changes.

Corinne Abraham, Clinic Ambassador and member of the Uplace BMC Professional Triathlon Team, takes 3rd at the 2014 Ironman Lanzarote Triathlon.

Having not raced since March last year due to a serious injury, Corinne makes her return in great style. Since only returning to training in January this year she has achieved a lot in such a short space of time. And to tackle one of the hardest, if not the hardest Ironman in the world, with high winds and hot temperature, she sets herself up well for Ironman Frankfurt in July.

However, this performance did not come easily. Living in Geneva proved to be problematic in finding the right route to recovery, so in October last year she made the call to the drummond clinic to see if Alex could help. With hours of physical therapy and movement correction with Alex and many more hours of lonely rehabilitation exercises in the clinics rehab gym and at home in Geneva leading up to Christmas, she was ready to start training again.

You must remember that going from 30 plus hours a week of swim, bike and running to nothing overnight is a massive shock to the body, never mind the psychological effect, she coped enormously well. The urge to train must have been immense, but Patience prevailed.

From January, her team (Uplace BMC), her individual coaches and Alex produced a periodised programme to lead her up to Lanzarote, but this wasn’t simple as there was still the great care needed not to stress the site of the injury whilst increasing the frequency, duration and intensity of her training.

The rest is history.

Keep scanning our facebook and website for updates on how Corinne, the rest of our clinic ambassadors and the whole of the Drummond family get on over the next few weeks.
